Challenge

Tensions were rising at a digital marketing agency as employees continually expressed feeling stagnant and unsatisfied after their internal coaching sessions with leadership. The leadership team didn’t feel like they were getting what they needed after coaching with their direct reports, and employees weren’t developing personally in their careers, which left everyone feeling deflated and at a loss.

Rocket Clicks’ Vice President Nicole Mennicke felt helpless. She was confident she had good coaching and communication skills within her, yet she was lacking the vocabulary to have productive conversations with her direct reports. She knew she needed to arm herself with the tools necessary to provide quality feedback, which is when she stumbled upon Stewart Leadership’s LEAD NOW! Solution

Before Stewart Leadership, Rocket Clicks was living in a 30-day coaching world. There were no 90-day plans, and employees were not taking ownership of their personal development. At first, Nicole tried implementing aspects of the LEAD NOW! Model on her own. However, she eventually decided it’d be best for everyone to work directly with Daniel Stewart through individual and team coachings, which is when she started to see real change with her direct report.

“This was a huge reality reset for me,” Nicole said. “I thought, as a coach, it was my job every month to come up with a laundry list of things – feedback & observations – so basically it was me daggering them for an hour. My direct reports had zero accountability, zero ownership, and little feedback for me. The only feedback I heard were complaints about a lack of direction. And I’m thinking, ‘I gave you direction!’ Well, that’s because that’s not how the human brain works. They needed to own the direction. They needed to get the feedback, and then create the path, which is exactly what Stewart Leadership empowered them to do.”

Results

With Stewart Leadership, Nicole learned to become a facilitator and a liaison versus a leader dragging her employees through development plans. Now, the ownership lies with the individual, and everyone feels empowered to make real change.
